Chicago Street Style

Chic – Chic – Chicago Street Style

I had the pleasure of travelling to Chicago on a luxury conference earlier this month. For me, what appeals to me most about travelling to a whole new city is the fact that you can break away from your daily wardrobe and experiment. And if you’re travelling to a glitzy city like New York, London, Paris or even Chicago for that matter, it gives you the chance to, well, dress up… Chicago street style couldn’t be easier…
I took this opportunity to showcase some of my ‘urban chic’ looks, which I wouldn’t always sport to walk on the streets of Mumbai for fear of being overdressed. So here goes. I will be posting different Chicago looks over the course of the next few days so stay tuned.

Today’s look couldn’t be more classic. However, as I always say, it’s not the look, but the small details that matter in menswear.
I had to spend the day attending a conference, which required me to be formal but not entirely. That basically meant, I was expected to wear a suit minus a tie. My look is therefore characterised by a brand new T.M. Lewin custom-fitted shirt paired with a classic grey Marks & Spencer suit. A brand that has existed on London’s Jermyn Street, T.M. Lewin has come to be synonymous with the most exquisitely tailored, hand-stitched cotton shirts.

I chose to base my look on this signature shirt

I recently chose this shirt from four different fits: Regular, slim, fitted and super fitted. I chose to stick with a slim fit in a pleasing shade of blue. This shirt was paired with a classic grey single-breasted, two-buttoned suit by Marks & Spencer.

If you’ve followed my style statements, you might have realised that though I like to keep it classic, I always add a touch of fun…even if it is a tiny accessory. Check this out…

I let this cool nautical anchor bracelet slip out sheepishly from under my cuff.
The look was completed by a pair of simple grey leather lace-ups (Pedro, Singapore) with a fluorescent yellow sole.
