I support the Gray Rights Movement! Yes I do!
I’ve often been accused by my immediate circle of having a ‘pigeon’s wardrobe’. And by pigeon’s wardrobe, they are not suggesting that it is small in size (what a dreadful thought that would be). The copious amounts of grey clothes that I own has led to them concluding that I dress like a grey pigeon. But what can I say, every time I go out shopping, I just cannot resist stocking up on my greys… a fashion blogger’s Fifty Shades of Grey, one would think!
So you can imagine my joy when I was invited to check out the Autumn-Winter collection at Calvin Klein Jeans recently only to discover that the star colour of their collection, this season, is… no points for guessing… GREY…
From all the grey pieces, my eyes instantly went in the direction of this thin cotton pinstriped button shirt, which has the makings of a modern kurta.
Pair this shirt with your favourite pair of denims and you’ve got a winning combination.
Following this, I gravitated towards this grey and white half-sleeve shirt, which many would term as boring and uninspiring. But have you seen the fit on this shirt? Snug and sharp!
I can’t possibly go on and on about greys to the detriment of other colours, so I picked out this ultra-thin cotton polo in nautical stripes. This is a ‘lite’ version of the traditional piqué cotton polos. A nice touch!
From what I gathered, this season Calvin Klein Jeans has not experimented much with colour, choosing to stick to grey, white, black and brown, which dominate the collection. Printed tee-shirts in black and white are casual enough to wear by themselves or to pair with a denim shirt, as I did.
We boys love our checks, don’t we. After the grey shirt, this was my second favourite piece from the collection. A brown and grey checked shirt in a super thin fabric called ‘shell cotton’, which I find is a lower maintenance version of linen, which crumples easily.
My verdict on Calvin Klein Jeans’ Autumn Winter collection: If you’re looking to spice up your wardrobe with colour and funk, this might not be the best bet for you.
If, however, you enjoy your greys, whites and blacks, you will love what’s on offer. The fits are GREAT, which, in my opinion, is a big win!
