Hermès Cuir d’Ange is the twelfth and latest fragrance of the Hermessence collection, created by Jean-Claude Ellena, an in-house perfumer. This perfumer is inspired by literature, raw materials, places, and majorly the books of the French novelist Jean Giono.
Here is an interesting detail: this perfume is inspired purely by leather and it all began with an extract from Jean le Bleu, Giono’s autobiographical novel, “I remember my father’s workshop. I cannot walk past a cobbler’s shop without thinking my father is still alive, somewhere beyond this world, sitting at a last with his blue apron, his awl, his stretching pliers and his burnisher, busy making shoes in angel leather for some god with a thousand feet…”
The elegent bottle, with a pale, soft-toned leather stopper to resonate with the leather theme, is a subtle detail. A fusion of natural leather and cognac colours, one experiences the elegance and softness of Cuir D’Ange. Leather and Musk are the dominant notes of this sophisticated fragrance available from April 2015 at Hermès stores in Mumbai and Delhi.
