UrbanEye.in is the official blogger for India Design Forum 2013
What began as a promising and highly dynamic initiative last year, has now turned into a world-class event, celebrating Indian design and its rapport with the international design scene. The India Design Forum was founded in 2012 by design specialist and art collector Rajshree Pathy and her daughter Aishwarya. This year, the Forum’s second edition will take place in Mumbai on 15th and 16th March, and will welcome some global players and influencers from the world of design. As an international design platform it brings together top architects, interior designers, product designers from India and around the world.
The result promises to be a beautiful symbiosis of ideas and dialogues between these specialists. Speakers at the IDF will discuss how design informs the world and changes our lives everyday. These discussions will cover a host of topics such as:
· Product & Industrial Design
· Sustainable Architecture
· Innovation & Technology
· Investing in Design Education
· Good Design is Good Business
· Fashion & Luxury
The line up of speakers is super impressive—fashion enthusiasts will be particularly happy to know that the iconic Christian Louboutin and Sabyasachi Mukherjee will be speaking. Besides that, the forum will see names like Thomas Heatherwick (who designed London’s new Double Decker bus and the Olympic Cauldron), Indian architect Rahul Mehrotra, Nipa Doshi, Jonathan Levien, Abraham Thomas (Curator of Victoria and Albert Museum’s design collection) and many more.
In the IDF Happy Hr project, ten young Indian designers will present a talk of six minutes each
India Design Forum 2013 is preceded by the India Design Week from 8th March to 13th March, which will celebrate design and talent across different spaces across the city of Mumbai.
UrbanEye.in has been selected as ‘Official Blogger’ for IDF and we will be at all the events, bringing you exclusive photos, tweets, posts and interviews with some of the big names.
Mumbai’s going to be so much more exciting in the next two weeks and we can’t wait to bring it all to you.
