If you’ve read about and seen deliciously inviting photographs of Paris’s most famous macaron shop Ladurée, you don’t need to travel all the way to the French capital to enjoy the experience. Hong Kong’s super chic Landmark Mandarin Oriental hotel has flown down a couple of French macaron specialists from the iconic Parisian patisserie to create a unique Ladurée Paris afternoon tea experience. From 1 December to 7 January 2014, if you visit the MO Bar in the afternoon, you will be led to temptation by the culinary spread, featuring a traditional three-tier tea set and the works. For the occasion, Ladurée Paris has even created an exclusive Platinum Mandarin Macaron, only for this hotel.
And if you’re lucky, you might be in time to spot the FABULOUS Ladurée macaron Christmas tree, three metres high, made entirely with the world’s most love macarons.
When we spoke to MO’s Chef Richard Ekkebus, this is what he had to say, “We’re delighted to be working with luxury pastry brand Ladurée – an influential leader and the inventor of macarons. When creating the tea set, we were inspired by the company’s classic French origins and their dedication to finesse and excellence. We have blended these qualities of some of the classic French pastries and savouries.”
To make this experience quintessentially French, the chef’s team at the hotel has even customised five traditional favourites
– A beetroot and foie gras macaron
– An air baguette with camembert mousse wrapped in aged Bayonne ham
– A quiche filled with smoked bacon and gruyere cheese
– The Platinum Mandaron Macaron
-A rose petal macaron
– A traditional french Baba soaked in Rum Agricole and topped with crème Chantilly
If you’re in Hong Kong this festive season, put this at the top of your to-do list.
