There’s an undeniable charm about British fashion. The plaids and tartans, the top hats and brogues. I just love it all. Savile Row inspired fashion, well, inspires me tremendously.
I was recently at Marks and Spencer’s megastore in Bandra, Mumbai, trying to pick out a perfect look from the spring-summer collection. Here’s the deal, I was at the store of what is probably Britain’s most famous (and most loved) import – trusty old Marks and Spencer. I couldn’t be bothered with the casualwear. I could get that anywhere. I wanted to do something quintessentially British. So I went straight for their Savile Row Inspired collection. And here’s the look that I picked out.
Luckily for me, the guys at Marks and Spencer took to my look and awarded me the ‘Best Styled Blogger’ for this look.
I spotted a grey checked suit, which I decided to break down and use only the jacket. (I am not confident enough to carry off a full checked suit). I paired it with a solid navy slim fit trouser, which offset the checks so well. I wore a pin-tucked shirt inside and added a cheerful blue bow-tie to complete the look. I love how the bow-tie adds a touch of quirk to my ensemble. My tan brogues (not visible here unfortunately) completed the look.
I decided to go all out with the British vintage charm and do my hair in a side-parting (styled with TiGi’s Bed Head hair wax, after forming the parting with a fine comb) and wax down all the flyaways.
So there you have it, my winning look for Marks and Spencer. Sartorial and Savile Row inspired.
