As a guy, in terms of swimwear, I often find myself baffled when I am packing my bag for a beach destination. I refuse to wear those Speedo briefs (God no), nor am I inclined towards the long, baggy board shorts, which, I feel, look good only on surfers. But to my surprise, Love Brand & Co. came around as a breath of fresh air. When I first heard about this brand, I was quick to check out their collection online and I was instantly impressed. They were the perfect swimming trunks for me, and in a bunch of cool ‘wearable’ guy colours. No cartoons, no neons, and, thankfully, just the right length.
Love Brand & Co. was started by London designer Oliver Tomalin. His motto ‘Fashion for the love of elephants’. Confused? Don’t be! This eco-conscious entrepreneur wanted his brand to be responsible towards to environment so he dedicated his collections to, well, elephants. Oliver tells us, “I will support wild elephants for as long as it takes”.
So what does Love Brand & Co. do to support the environment? Well, for starters, it donates 5% of its sales to organisations that work with wild elephants and conservation projects — Elephant Family Charity, The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Tusk Trust.
I checked out their Spring 2013 collection and I give it a big thumbs up. The campaign features British actor Ben Robson sporting the trunks at a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi.
What I love: the colours used. Bright summery colours like blue, mint green, pink and even black. This makes them that much easier to pair with a tee or a shirt (from your beach villa to the beach, of course) or to make a statement as you lounge lazily by the swimming pool, sipping a beer and soaking up the sun.
Word is, Love Brand & Co. swim trunks are available in India…
