While the digital shopping space in India has been largely dominated by large online retailers, it’s interesting to see another Indian retail leader enter the space. Shoppers Stop been an Indian retail leader and it is now making its presence felt in the online space as well. In addition to the Shoppers Shop website, which I have often shopped at, I recently discovered the Shoppers Stop app.
I decided to download it on my iPhone and check it out.
In terms of layout, the app is pretty simple. Shoppers Stop is not all about fashion, it’s a lifestyle brand and hence the categories have been divided into Men’s Fashion, Women’s Fashion, Kidswear, Homeware, Brands and Gifts. The featured brands under Shoppers Stop are Haute Curry, Stop, Life, Elliza Donatein, Kashish, Rocky Star and Femina Flaunt.
There is a separate offers’ zone, where certain promotions are displayed.
What I found particularly interesting is the Trends and More section. From a men’s fashion perspective I found this great – there’s a section where trends are decoded, adding a more editorial and informative angle to the app shopping experience. For instance, the Bollywood airport style feature uses different Bollywood actors and decodes their airport style. Each piece of the look is then showcased as a separate piece under the “Get the look” section.
Going deeper into the men’s fashion section, the simplicity of the layout and categories impressed me. Under the men’s fashion section, there are clearly divided categories of shirts, shoes, suits & blazers, t-shirts and accessories.
Since I am obsessed with any sort of grooming product, I clicked on the image of a Philips beard trimmer, which instantly took me to a section of shavers and trimmers. (Needless to say, I got lost in there for a few minutes, comparing features and price points).
What would a men’s fashion section be without watches? Being a watch geek myself, I clicked on the watch section to see what was on offer — an interesting selection of premium and high-street brands like Casio and Swiss Eagle, among others. A great place to shop for a watch for everyday wear, if you’re not looking for an outright splurge.
My verdict: the Shoppers Stop app is a great one-stop shop for all your lifestyle essentials. If, like me, you have shopped at their stores over the years, you will quite enjoy the app experience too.
